Pre-matriculation credit cannot be used to satisfy major requirements but can be used to satisfy prerequisite requirements.

At least 6 units of the 10 units must be taken at Vassar including one at the 300 level.

Major Requirements for the Class of 2022

ECON 102 ,  MATH 121 , MATH 126  or the equivalent, and at least 10 units of graded economics credit, excluding ECON 120 , that include ECON 200 , ECON 201 , ECON 209 , and at least three units at the 300 level. With the exception of ECON 120 , students may not elect the NRO in any economics course after they have declared their major in Economics. At least 6 units of the 10 units must be taken at Vassar including 2 at the 300 level. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the MATH 121  and MATH 126  requirement early in their college careers as calculus is a prerequisite for many courses at the 200 level and above.

ECON 209  is not open to students who have taken MATH 241  and MATH 341  or who are concurrently enrolled in the latter. Such students majoring in economics are exempt from the requirement to take ECON 209 , but must still take 10 units of graded economics credit in addition to ECON 102 .

It is strongly recommended that all students intending to study economics during their junior year study away experience take at least ECON 200 , ECON 201 , and ECON 209  by the end of their sophomore year.
