ART 202 - Painting I

Semester Offered: Fall
1 unit(s)
This yearlong course provides an introduction to painting as a language. Working from direct observation with water-mixable oils, students hone perceptual and technical skills toward the articulation of color, form, space, and light. Each student’s artistic voice develops through ongoing practice, critical discussion, and reflection. A wide range of contemporary and art historical examples provides context for our work through slide talks, readings and interviews, artist research, and visits to the Loeb. Gina Ruggeri.

Prerequisite(s): ART 102 -ART 103  and permission of the instructor.

Yearlong course 202-ART 203 .

Two 2-hour periods.

Course Format: CLS
