PHYS 210 - Classical Mechanics

A study of the motion of objects using Newtonian theory. Topics include 2D and 3D motion in diferent coordinate systems, oscillator systems, central forces, and rigid bodies. An introduction to the methods of finding solutions to complex problems using Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations.

Prerequisite(s): PHYS 200 , MATH 220 , or permission of the instructor.

Corequisite(s): MATH 228  is preferred as a corequisite, but it is okay if it is a prerequisite.

Qualified first-year students are welcome but must consult with the instructor prior to enrolling in this course and may need a recommendation from a Fall Professor.

Two 75-minute periods.
