ENGL 209 - Advanced Creative Writing: Narrative Semester Offered: Fall and Spring 1 unit(s) This class explores the nature of narrative and storytelling in relation to our own attempts at creative expression. Throughout the semester we consider several works of fiction, considering the various ways that writers reimagine form to inflect narrative with meaning. Classes may explore point of view, character, agency, plot, style, and animating concepts or fields to create particular storyworlds. Workshops foreground analysis and commentary about students’ writing. David Means (a); Ryan Chapman (b).
Prerequisite(s): Open to any student who has taken ENGL 205 , 206 or ENGL 207 . Priority is given to junior English majors and correlates.
In order to register for this class, students should complete an application prior to preregistration, using a form available in the English Department in lieu of writing samples. Notification of acceptance will be given before preregistration begins. Please do not contact the professor.
One 2-hour period and individual conferences with the instructor.
