ENGL 205 - Introductory Creative Writing Semester Offered: Fall and Spring 1 unit(s) This course examines creative writing as a process in which analysis and innovation meet, asking the question: What is craft? How does one best employ literary tools to accomplish one’s aims as a creative writer? Throughout the semester we consider several works of fiction, narrative nonfiction, poetry, or other literary forms. Through workshops, close reading and critique of published work, and other exercises, the class helps writers build a fundamental vocabulary of literary techniques. Not offered fall term to first-year students; first-year students may apply through preregistration for spring term.
