PHIL 110 - Early Chinese Philosophy Semester Offered: Fall 1 unit(s) An introduction to Chinese philosophy in the period between (roughly) 500 and 221 B.C., covering Confucians, Taoists and others. Among the topics discussed by these philosophers are human nature, methods of ethical education and self-cultivation, virtues and vices, and the role of conventions and institutions in human life. Open only to freshmen; satisfies the college requirement for a Freshman Writing Seminar.
