FILM 183 - Introduction to Ultra Short Form Filmmaking Semester Offered: Fall 1 unit(s) Can we use filmmaking to cultivate attentiveness and a playful sense of presence in everyday life? How does having a cinematic practice — a laboratory of ongoing audiovisual exploration — help us to develop confidence in our creative process and generate ideas for larger projects while also bearing witness to the richness of ordinary moments? This course introduces filmmaking as a personal practice through in-class prompts and home assignments. To foster creative freedom, we emphasize sustained output and process over product, which takes the pressure off any single film. Students learn the basics of the camera and editing in Adobe Premiere as they create up to ten 1-2 min. films. Denise Iris.
