HIST 349 - U.S. Strategic Thinking in Global Affairs 1 unit(s) (Same as POLI 349 ) This seminar explores the concepts of U.S. strategic thinking, i.e., efforts to achieve large ends with limited means, as applied to global affairs. We examine a set of historical instances in which individuals, groups, and/or nations have attempted to harness U.S. political, military, diplomatic, economic, environmental, legal, amd scientific resources to advance national and global interests. Because U.S. strategic thinking requires the art of reconciling ends and means, we also examine how a range of people and groups with various leves of power balance what they think and want with the constraints that they face. Elizabeth Bradley, Robert Brigham.
