ART 307 - Printmaking II: Expanded Print 1 unit(s) Thinking of printmaking as a methodology and a series of actions, this course expands the potential of printmaking beyond the press. Students engage with ideas of ‘print’ through printed images as well as through acts of collecting, acts of transmission, acts of copying, acts of multiplication, acts of communication, acts of pressure, and so on, placing printmaking into broader contemporary practices including installation, site-specific responses, books, multiples, 2D and 3D digital outputs, and performance. How can printmaking enter three dimensions? How does printmaking allow for manipulation? Does a print need to be physical? Can it be temporary? Together, we look for new considerations of what we consider print and how it communicates ideas. Christina Tenaglia.
