PHIL 395 - Intensive Reading Philosophy Semester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) An intensive study of a particular text or author offered by various members of the faculty with expertise in that text or author.
Topic for 2026/27b: Reading Marx. Participants in this Intensive undertake a detailed reading of Karl Marx’s Capital, Volume One. First published in 1867, Marx’s Capital is one of the most influential texts in political philosophy. Over the course of the semester, we read the book from cover to cover, focusing on the methodological approach developed by Marx over the course of the work. Students should have prior experience studying political philosophy. Jamie Kelly.
Prerequisite(s): One prior course in Philosophy at any level.
