ART 203 - Painting I: Painting in Mixed Media

This introductory course explores painting approaches informed by drawing, collage, and printmaking strategies, using water-based paints on a variety of surfaces and formats. Students explore painting as a language through perceptual, conceptual, and experimental methods. Each student develops through ongoing practice, critical discussion, and written reflection. A wide range of contemporary and art historical examples provides context for our work through slide talks, readings, interviews, and artist research. Gina Ruggeri.
