ART 202 - Painting I: Introduction to Painting

This course introduces the fundamentals of oil painting, in water-mixable oils. Working primarily from direct observation, students develop perceptual and technical skills toward the articulation of color, form, space, and light. Each student develops through ongoing practice, critical discussion, and written reflection. A wide range of contemporary and art historical examples provides context for our work through slide talks, readings, interviews, and artist research. Gina Ruggeri.
