MUSI 219 - Electronic Music, Technology & Culture Semester Offered: Fall 1 unit(s) Hands-on introduction to foundational concepts and skills of electronic audio: acoustics, spectra, microphone & recording techniques, digital signal processing, sampling and synthesis.
In parallel, the course charts a creative & critical exploration of electronic music histories and technologies—from throughout the last century, and around the globe—amidst their social, cultural and material contexts. A substantial creative final project focuses on two uniquely medium-specific applications of electronic music technologies: radio art and sound installation.
Two 75-minute periods.
