GEOG 340 - Advanced Urban and Regional Studies Semester Offered: Spring 1 1 unit(s) Climate action is a central challenge of our time. A major component of climate action is reforming energy systems, which strongly shape our environment, economy, and politics. This course seeks to understand the dynamics and the landscapes of our rapidly changing energy systems, at both local and national scales. Can renewable energy produce a more equitable energy regime? How are these shifting landscapes pushing us to rethink geographies of energy production and consumption? We use a variety of methods, including mapping and case studies, to explore why systems emerge as they do, how communities respond to changing energy identities, and how technologies are changing narratives about decarbonization. Mary Cunningham.
This course may be repeated for credit when the topic changes.
