ENGL 304 - Creative Writing Seminar Semester Offered: Fall 1 unit(s) The purpose of this course is to refine our understanding of the craft of writing in order to produce a publishable piece. We discuss examples of beautiful, brilliant, disturbing writing and consider aspects of craft like voice, structure, pacing, and time. Our readings are primarily in short fiction and nonfiction but include poetry and a play. Amitava Kumar.
Prerequisite(s): Open to juniors and seniors who have taken ENGL 207 , ENGL 209 , or ENGL 211 .
In order to register for this class, students should complete an application prior to preregistration, using a form available in the English Department in lieu of writing samples. Notification of acceptance is given before preregistration begins. Please do not contact the professor.
One 2-hour period and individual conferences with the instructor.
