FILM 225 - Film Criticism

What is the role of film criticism in today’s culture? In this intensive, we discuss the philosophy behind film criticism and develop an online publication with the work created during the semester. Students experiment with different forms of film criticism—written, video essays, interviews, podcasts–, develop pitches, and explore multiple editorial possibilities. In the beginning of the semester, we focus on defining the activity through readings and discussions. After that, we have editorial meetings to develop our own Wordpress website, from concept to publication. Fabio Andrade.

Prerequisite(s): FILM 209  and one additional unit of 200/300-level film history and theory.

One 90-minute period.
