ART 107 - Foundations: Visual Language Semester Offered: Fall and Spring 1 unit(s) This foundation course introduces students to creative problem solving, the world of contemporary art, and multiple modalities for making artwork that will prepare them for upper-level art courses at Vassar. With an emphasis on posing questions and critical thinking, students are asked to reset and expand their expectations of what art is, laying the groundwork for experimentation and expression within the processes of making. Students develop their own systems of working in response to shared prompts, then question or break those devised systems in the pursuit of new ideas. Gina Ruggeri, Christina Tenaglia.
Two 2-hour periods.
Course Format: CLS
