PSYC 281 - Topics in Cognitive Psychology: Cognitive Development Semester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) By the time we reach adulthood, we hold a rich variety of worldviews (e.g., about society as meritocratic), beliefs (e.g., about the possibility of life after death) and attitudes (e.g., toward people with different identities). Where do these ideas come from? How do they take shape across infancy, childhood, and adolescence? How does cognitive architecture support or constrain the formation of accurate ideas, and how do culture and personal experiences inform our ideas as they crystallize? These are the types of questions we address in this course through a survey of behavioral experiments in cognitive development. Rebecca Peretz-Lange.
Prerequisite(s): PSYC 105 .
Two 75-minute periods.
