BIOL 380 - Neuroimmunology

This course aims to expose students to fundamental concepts and recent advances in neuroimmunology, providing a broad perspective into this growing field.  Through the course, students are expected to become familiar with the basics of the immune system and nervous system, including different cell types, signaling pathways, and “normal” versus “pathogenic” mechanisms and factors.  Furthermore, students develop an understanding of the relationships between the nervous system and immune system and the roles of these interconnected systems in various neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders.

Prerequisite(s): Two 200-level Biology or one 200-level Biology and one of the following: PSYC  /NEUR 241 , NEUR 229  , or 249 .

Two 75-minute periods.
