EDUC 136 - Early Childhood EducationSemester Offered: Fall 0.5 unit(s) This course explores the “why” behind the components of a quality early childhood education learning environment. Drawing on research from early childhood education and developmental psychology, students explore the following topics: school, classroom and playground design; pedagogical methods; core curriculum components; guidance and discipline; the role of parents and families; models of inclusion and diversity; and interfacing with state agencies (e.g., licensing, health department). Observation at Wimpfheimer Nursery School is required. Ms. Riess.
First six-week course.
Two 75-minute periods.
