WMST 201 - Introduction to Queer StudiesSemester Offered: Fall 1 unit(s) This course offers an introduction to queer theories and methodologies as a form of inquiry that emerged out of and alongside feminism, LGBT liberation movements and AIDS activism. In addition to exploring the experiences of LBGTQ individuals and communities in a global context, the course focuses on the historical emergence of a variety of sexual and gender identities as well as the political strategies they pursued. Special attention is paid to the way sexuality intersects with gender, nationality, race, class, and dis/ability. Mr. Krell and Mr. Schneider.
Prerequisites: Women’s Studies 130 or permission of the instructor.
Two 75-minute periods.
