DANC 197 - Introduction to Dancemaking Semester Offered: Fall 0.5 unit(s) Introduction to Dancemaking uses the dance studio as a playground for embodied experiences, authentic discovery, and creativity. Students improvise to build their personal movement vocabulary and gain compositional tools with the goal of creating original work. Observing professional choreography and participating in discussions and reflection, dancers learn to describe movement, analyze choreography, and offer productive feedback to their peers. Short readings further support student understanding of the importance of meaning, context, and intention when crafting art. Jessie Levey.
