EDUC 364 - Practicing Restorative Justice

1 unit(s)

This course is  a skill-building intensive in restorative practices. It focuses on developing facilitation skills needed for holding restorative dialogues (both restorative “circles” and “restorative conferences”). This course is experiential with role play and debriefs.

In addition to covering the history, foundation, and utility of restorative practices, the skills-based course focuses on two levels of restorative practice:

Level I: Restorative circles for community building and improving campus climate. We focus on restorative circle practices to improve campus culture and build relationships and how to use circles in response to charged community incidents in order to provide inclusive dialogue, healing, accountability, and action plans.

Level II: Restorative conferences for incidents of harm. This section focuses on restorative approaches to violations of communal expectations. Luis Inoa.
