PHYS 280 - “Bad” Physics, Good Movies, and the Media Semester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) (Same as MEDS 280) Misrepresentation of facts exists throughout the media. How is science misrepresented in the media? Why are action movies filled with impossible physics? What kind of impossible science is popular? How is science misrepresented by the news media and politicians? How do textbooks affect who becomes a scientist?
During this course, students explore how science is represented in the media and is chosen to presents science. Students have an opportunity to explore bad science and representation in the media while creating their own science media.
