PHIL 180 - Firearms: Technology, History, Politics Semester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) This course is a theoretical introduction to firearms, with a focus on their contemporary technology (what are firearms? how do they work? what are the different types?), historical development (how have firearms evolved over time? how have firearms influenced history and the development of science?), and politics (what are the laws governing US firearms? what political issues are raised by firearms use and ownership?). No physical firearms are used in this course, and students are reminded that, in accordance with NY State law, firearms are not permitted on college or university campuses. Bryan VanNorden.
