Semester Offered: Fall and Spring
1 unit(s)
This is an all-hands-on-deck moment in history: everyone is needed right now in the fight against climate change. This course is designed to help students find roles in the climate fight in their lives after Vassar that fit their talents, skills, and interests. We map the technological, economic, social, and political landscape of climate solutions and the work needed to implement those solutions in coming decades, in careers ranging from engineering to public policy, entrepreneurship to urban planning, international development to ocean farming, law to architecture, and many others. Each student undertakes research projects on climate solutions of their choice. The course facilitates opportunities for students to network with professionals working in a variety of careers that address climate change, and each student conducts interviews of climate professionals. In addition to two, regular class meeting each week, the class meets for a third, longer period once per week to host a series of guest speakers with climate careers. Jeffrey Seidman.

Two 75-minute periods and one 2-hour lab.

Course Format: CLS
