PHED 105 - Foundations of Wellness Semester Offered: Spring 0.5 unit(s) This introductory course provides students with an understanding of concepts and practices that contribute to the enhancement of personal wellness and well-being. The course objective is for students to appraise and optimize their own physical, mental and emotional health from the practices learned. Exploring the mind-body connection and developing healthy habits is an overall theme of the course.
Class content includes sections of various types of physical activity and fitness, mental and emotional well-being via mindfulness, meditation and relaxation as well as nutrition, sleep and recovery. Teaching methods include a combination of lecture, group discussion, guest speakers and the practical application of concepts. Regular attendance, active participation in all course activities and satifactory completion of class assignments is expected. The Department.
