BIOL 382 - The ecology and evolution of animal adaptations Semester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) This course explores the interplay between evolutionary processes and ecological interactions, focusing on how animals respond and adapt to their environments. Emphasis is placed on research that integrates comparative methods with experimental approaches to elucidate the form and function of adaptive phenotypes across diverse ecosystems. Topics may include natural selection and the origins of phenotypic novelty, the coevolutionary dynamics of parental care and family life, animal coloration and camouflage, animal behavior, predator-prey dynamics, and additional topics determined by students. Prerequisite(s): One unit of any 200-level biology and one of the following: BIOL 226 , 228 , 241 , 248 .
