ASL 105 - Beginning American Sign Language

In this course students acquire an introductory level of sign vocabulary and gain a basic understanding of ASL grammar and sentence structure. Students will learn to use both formal and informal registers in ASL. This course also provides a basic understanding of the Deaf Community and Culture.

To apply for special permission to add this course, contact the SILP Director prior to spring pre-registration. Beginning ASL courses are not open to first-year students. Silke von der Emde.

Prerequisite(s): Permission of the instructor.

Yearlong course ASL 105-106 .

Three 75-minute periods.
