ART 213 - Photography II Semester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) ART 213 provides an opportunity for beginning and experienced photographers to explore the tradition of analog photography. During this course, students learn camera techniques and darkroom printing as they refine their technical and creative skills. We address the historical and contemporary role of still imagery, specifically film photography and its functions in the current digital landscape. Assignments investigate topics such as creative uses of light, motion, subject matter, and composition while engaging critically with conceptual ideas, in a contemporary context. We also explore simple alternative processes in the darkroom and methods for scanning negatives for digital output. The goal for each student is to balance technical skills with aesthetic decisions to create their own unique photographic language and style. All students are required to supply their own 35mm film camera. Students can enroll in Photography II without having taken Photography I. Abigail Gunnels.
Prerequisite(s): ART 102 -ART 103 and/or permission of the instructor.
