ENGL 370 - Transnational Literature Semester Offered: Fall 1 unit(s) Topic for 2024/25a: Transnational Literature: Writing the Pacific. This course focuses on literary representations of the Pacific from the eighteenth century to the present. Topics to be considered include: exploration & European colonialism; the discourses of travel and tourism; race, science, & anthropology; nationalism and globalization; global economy and trade; postcolonialism & decolonization. Authors may include: Marcus Clarke, Katherine Mansfield, Oodgeroo Noonuccal, Albert Wendt, Hone Tuwhare, Subramani, Tusiata Avia, Craig Santos Perez. Mark Taylor.
