ECON 248 - International Trade and the World Financial System Semester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) This course covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of international trade, exchange rates, balance of payments, and the international financial and monetary system. We will explore common problems and crises that countries on the international stage encounter. Topics include the creation of the Eurozone, currency and sovereign debt crises, the role of global policy institutions (the WTO, the IMF, the World Bank, and the BIS), and the global financial system. The course is designed to give students a better understanding of complex international finance and macroeconomic issues, as well as discuss the current policy debates countries face on the global stage. Prerequisite(s): ECON 102 .
Not open to students who have completed ECON 345 or ECON 346 .
