CLCS 280 - Equitable Futures: Action Based Learning in Arlington School District

This intensive critically explores and facilitates intervention intended to address and respond to racism and the persisting inequities in the Arlington Central School District, the K-12 school district in which Vassar sits. With engaged learning and participatory practices, the course offers opportunities for students to learn the history of the area and Vassar’s relationship to the district, become informed about the current equity-related issues within the district, and further advance students’ public speaking, advocacy, policy development, and outreach skills. Students have an opportunity to partner with local organizations, including ArlingtOn Partners Against Racism, a local anti-racist educational advocacy group. The collaborative nature of this course emphasizes and fosters the connection between Vassar and our local communities. Taneisha Means, Eva Woods.
