Advanced seminar on Russian culture. Designed for majors and students with sufficient knowledge of Russian.

Topic for 2023/24a: Russian Blockbusters. We study productions of enduring popular appeal that have become universally recognized cultural symbols in the Russian speaking world. We sample a variety of genres, including comedies, war films, spy and detective stories, musicals, and sci-fi films from the 1930s to our days. Dan Ungurianu.

Prerequisite(s): RUSS 210/211 or the equivalent; or permission of the instructor.

Advanced seminar conducted in Russian.

Two 75-minute periods.
