ESCI 111 - Environmental Justice in the Anthropocene

Semester Offered: Fall
1 unit(s)
Geoscientists have proposed a new designation in the geological time scale for our current period, “the Anthropocene.” The designation reflects the fact that human beings are acting as geological agents, transforming the Earth on a global scale. Environmental justice — including among others eco-feminism and issues of environmental racism — extinction events and historical and ongoing climate crises are, along with other, issues addressed when discussing the Anthropocene.  Jill Schneiderman.

Open only to first-year students; satisfies the college requirement for a First-Year Writing Seminar.

Two 75-minute periods.

Course Format: CLS
