CMPU 395 - Database Management Systems and Applications Semester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) Managing large data collections is a key component of many applications. This course examines how data can be modeled, stored, accessed, and manipulated using relational database management systems (DBMSs) and how DBMSs support efficient data access and protect the integrity of the data stored.
Topics covered include database design, query languages (relational algebra, SQL), indexing, query processing, and transaction management techniques. Techniques for interfacing host languages with a DBMS are discussed and students design and implement a web-based database application project. Phyllis Frankl.
