AFRS 212 - Arabic Literature and Culture 1 unit(s) This reading, writing and conversation course is designed to familiarize students with various genres of classical and modern Arabic prose and poetry from the pre-Islamic period to the present. We read, discuss, and write about themes and topics which have been central to the cultural discourses in various periods of the region’s history. These topics include: religious diversity, Muslim and Arab scientists and their contribution to world culture, the arts and musical genres, among many others.
