RELI 243 - Islamic Traditions 1 unit(s) An exploration of Islamic history, with special attention to issues of prophecy, religious leadership, mythology and sacred scriptures. Among the topics examined are Islamic law, theology and philosophy, as well as the varied expressions of Islamic religious values and ritual, especially Shi’ism, Sufism, and orthodox Sunnism. Particular attention is given to women in Islam and to Islamic architecture.
Prerequisite(s): RELI 150 , RELI 152 , or permission of the instructor.
