Responding to the urgent need to promote sustainable ways of living in the 21st century, this course explores how residential and commercial wastes are managed and treated in the mid-Hudson Valley region. By inviting professional engineers, city government officials, community activists, students learn the scope of garbage problems and possible solutions for them in this specific local context and globally. Prerequisite(s): None, but some exposure to critical social science thinking and approach will be highly beneficial.

First six-week course.

Two 75-minute periods.
