MUSI 141 - Introduction to Western Art MusicSemester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) Topic for 2014/15b: Classical Music at the Crossroads (and Why It Matters Today). This course examines two pivotal moments in the history of European music: the rise of the Classic style, as epitomized in the works of Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven; and the crisis of early modernism in the years preceding the First World War. Mr. Mann.
Open to all classes. Previous musical training (or ability to read music) not required. May not be counted in the requirements for concentration. MUSI 140 is not required for Music 141, therefore these two courses may be taken in any order.
Two 75-minute periods.
