(Same as GRST 211) Sculpture, painting, and architecture in the Roman Republic and Empire. Topics include: the appeal of Greek styles, the spread of artistic and architectural forms throughout the vast empire and its provinces, the role of art as political propaganda for state and as status symbols for private patrons. Prerequisite: ART 105-ART 106 or GRST 216 or GRST 217, or permission of the instructor.
