Using the events of the “Arab Spring” and its aftermath as touchstones, we investigate such topics as globalization, mediated identity, gender, and mediated entertainment. While most of our focus is on the Arab countries, we also examine cultural material from Iran, Israel, and Turkey. We watch films, follow blogs, and read popular and academic material on the region.
