ECON 220 - The Political Economy of Health CareSemester Offered: Fall 1 unit(s) (Same as STS 220 ) Topics include the markets for physicians and nurses, hospital services, pharmaceuticals, and health insurance, both public and private; effects of changes in medical technology; and global health problems. A comparative study of several other countries’ health care systems and reforms to the U.S. system focuses on problems of financing and providing access to health care in a climate of increasing demand and rising costs. Ms. Johnson-Lans.
Prerequisite(s): ECON 101 or ECON 102
Students who have not taken ECON 101 but have strong quantitative backgrounds may enroll with the instructor’s permission.
Courses numbered 200 and above are not open to freshmen in their first semester.
