ART 231 - The Golden Age of Rubens, Rembrandt and VermeerSemester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) An exploration of the new forms of secular and religious art that developed during the Golden Age of the Netherlands in the works of Rubens, Rembrandt, Vermeer and their contemporaries. The course examines the impact of differing religions on Flanders and the Dutch Republic, while exploring how political, economic and scientific factors encouraged the formation of seventeenth century Netherlandish art. Prerequisite(s): ART 105 -ART 106 or permission of the instructor.
Two 75-minute periods.
